Bones and Joint Health with Collagen

In a recent article published by NBR Nutraceutical, Will Cowling writes that our modern-day lifestyles are causing common joint and bone health problems. This is because we are spending a significant proportion our lives in front of digital devices without taking breaks or maintaining the right posture. Long-term health problems such as wrist and neck problems will become even more common because of our sedentary working methods and dependency on digital devices.

Cowling references research by FMCG Gurus in 2019 and 2020 that shows:

  • A total of 19% of consumers across the globe say that they are dissatisfied with their joint health, with a further 20% saying that they are unsure.

  • Some 6% of respondents said that they have become more conscious about their joint and bone health as a result of COVID-19.

  • Some 74% of consumers say that they acknowledge the link between joint, bone and good overall health.

  • Some 36% of consumers said in 2020 that they plan to improve their joint and bone health during the next 12 months.

  • Two related symptoms more likely to be experienced than age-related health problems such as brittle bones (16%) and reduced dexterity in the hands (15%).

  • Some 23% of consumers say they spend at least 35 hours a week in average in front of PC or laptop.

  • Some 21% say that they spend at least 35 hours of time using their smartphones.

  • Some 33% of consumers say that they believe they take the correct amount of breaks away from devices.

  • Some 56% of consumers in 2020 said that they are interested in food and drink products that aid joint and bone health.

One of the best-known food supplements to help joint and bones function properly is collagen. Collagen is known for being the most abundant protein of the body.

Collagen is the major component of connective tissues that make up tendons, ligaments, skin, and muscles. Healthline writes that collagen helps maintain the integrity of the cartilage, which is the rubber-like tissue that protects the joints.

Some studies show that taking collagen supplements may help improve symptoms of osteoarthritis and reduce joint pain overall.

Debene carries DIAS Forte and DIAS Beauty, two collagen supplements made from high quality ingredients.

DIAS Forte is a unique supplement including all four types of collagen (I-II-III-IV), together with vitamin C, vitamin E and sodium hyaluronate. It has a pomegranate flavouring which is very popular with consumers.

DIAS Beauty includes collagen types I – III as well as vitamin C, vitamin D, zinc, selenium, biotin and sodium hyaluraonate. In addition to the benefits for tendons, ligaments and bones the added compounds help the repair and growth of skin, hair and nails as well as the immune system.
